I love what I do!
I am a Director and Cinematographer of animated films with over 24 years of experience across theatrical features, series, visual effects, and commercials. I have advanced from lighting and compositing in earlier years, through to cinematography and directing having helmed the 3x Emmy winning Lost in Oz, which included the award for Best Animated Children's Program. Credits include working with notable clients such as Walt Disney, Netflix, Fox/Blue Sky, Amazon, and more.
Directing, for me, is fundamentally collaborative. I work closely with clients and artists across every department to keep the story and characters my priority above all else. Good ideas can come from anywhere, and staying agile enough to pivot toward a better solution consistently produces stronger work — provided someone is holding the through-line. That's my role: the keeper of the story, assessing how each change serves the whole and how best to achieve it. Some of the most rewarding work happens in performance, collaborating with animators on character nuance and with the voice cast to bring those characters fully to life.
As Director of Photography I have been responsible for establishing each film's complete cinematic language — lighting design, camera aesthetic, and visual tone — in close collaboration with the directors and art director. My approach is grounded in live-action photographic principles, reflecting formal training in live-action filmmaking together with a background in theatre production, and photography. That foundation, combined with my directorial experience, informs a visual sensibility that lends itself to how lighting, camera, and composition should always serve the narrative.
My creative work is matched by my experience in technical and production leadership. I have developed lighting and compositing pipelines and DI workflows, including a physically-based lighting pipeline in Blender built for scalability, and have hired, trained, and led artistic teams while overseeing render infrastructure, shot-tracking systems, and cross-departmental communication. Over the past six years, this leadership has extended to remote production environments across Canada and internationally, complemented by availability for in-person production milestones.
Across every project, my focus remains the elevation of visual quality without compromise to schedule or budget, achieved through close collaboration with clients and directors to clarify creative intent and translate it into coherent visual execution — a standard applied consistently across theatrical, streaming, and budget-sensitive productions alike.
